The 5D Mark III features a 22.3MP full-frame CMOS sensor and DIGIC 5+ image processor to enable up to 6 fps continuous shooting and full HD 1080p video recording with an expandable sensitivity range to ISO 102,400. Benefitting the imaging performance is a 61-point High-Density Reticular AF system, which includes 5 central dual cross-type points and 41 other cross-type points for refined precision and speed when working in difficult lighting conditions and with moving subjects.

Following on from the success of the 5DMKII, the MKIII includes new features specifically aimed at the video market.  These include manual audio control’s during recording and a headphone jack for monitoring. Timecode has been added and Moire’ and Aliasing have been reduced by an all new sensor filter.  With the new firmware 1.21, the MKIII now has a clean 422 8-bit HDMI output allowing for full HD on set monitoring and even the option of recording to an external device such as a Nanoflash.
